Our History

BURDENED

Living Faith Toronto began as God was working in the hearts of Pastor Josh O’Hora and a small group of believers from Midtown Baptist Temple in Kansas City, Missouri. In the spring of 2022, a small team took a discovery trip to Toronto. Our objectives were to “spy out the land” and report back as to how God was moving (Numbers 13:17, 26-27). The team was able to get a feel for the city, and from this first trip, relationships were established with key believers who have been faithful to stay connected. Further, while walking between Toronto Metropolitan University campus and the Eaton Centre, an undeniable heaviness settled in Josh’s heart as Matthew 9:36 flooded his mind.

Matthew 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

ENVISIONED

Memories of these multitudes would not go away. It was abundantly clear to all that another trip was needed in order to continue to prove out what God was doing. In the summer of 2023, while praying for further clarity, Josh and a few pastors from Midtown visited Toronto again. On this trip, God deepened Josh’s burden and he began to realize how God might well be calling him to what was becoming a growing work in Toronto.

1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet [have ye] not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

CALLED

More trips led to more answered prayers. Individuals sought out and were faithful to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Open doors to share the gospel resulted in both rejection and people responding in faith. As the group continued to pray for clarity on what it was that they were to do, God through his word continued to clearly say, “move forward in faith.”

Deuteronomy 1:29-31 Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them. 30 The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; 31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.

SENT

In the fall of 2024, after another fruitful trip, Josh presented to his pastors how the Lord had been leading him, and it became clear that it was time to give the work in Toronto the “green light.” In the winter of 2024, it was announced that Josh and his family would begin to actively work towards relocating to Toronto full-time. Their hope is to be there in the spring of 2026 to see a Christ-centered, bible-believing, soul-winning, disciple-making church established in the heart of Toronto.

Acts 13:2-3 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. 3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

We trust that the Lord is not done “knocking on the door” of peoples’ hearts in Toronto, and that people are not done responding in faith. We hope to connect with more individuals who are looking for the joy, purpose, peace, and direction a relationship with him brings.

Living Faith Toronto invites others to come join us in discovering who God is and learning what it means to have a personal relationship with him. We voluntarily partner with the Living Faith Fellowship of churches (lffellowship.com) and are committed to going into all the world preaching the good news that God has made a way for mankind to be reconciled to Himself, and to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
